2017 Home Show

Indianapolis, IN

This project was designed for the 2017 Home Show.  The primary feature of the 1,200 square foot garden is a "She" Shed, a cottage designed exclusively for rest and relaxation.  Adjacent to the shed, a wet bar offers opportunities for drinks and conversation.

A firepit surrounded by a seat wall sits tucked behind a wall of vegetation, and a nearby gravel area offers comfy seating beneath a towering birch.

On the opposite end of the garden, a pergola stands over a rustic dining scene complete with comfy seating complemented by hidden storage.  The adjacent outdoor kitchen offers the perfect outdoor grilling experience and includes a grill, side burner, refrigerator and plenty of storage.

This project was designed for clients looking to increase their curb appeal and up their outdoor game.  In the front yard, foundation plantings received special care with the addition of new spring and summer blooming shrubs accented by colorful masses of perennials.  An informal allée of trees provides shade along the driveway and funnels views towards the entrance of the home.

A curving set of natural stone steps offers access to the backyard, which boasts additional amenities including a pool and pool house, a firepit with seat walls, a large playground area, and access to the upper deck complete with a fireplace and bar/grill.  

The pool house hosts a series of intimate spaces including a full kitchen, bath, and living areas. Its bifold doors open directly to the pool area and blur the lines between inside and out. Additional plantings offer a backdrop for these new amenities and provide plenty of privacy for relaxation.

This project was designed for clients looking to update their mid-century modern home.  The existing asphalt driveway was removed and replaced with a concrete driveway accented with paver inlays; a retaining wall was placed at the north end to hold back the steep grade.  

The upper decks were replaced and cable railings were installed to provide views from the inside of the home to the surrounding landscape.  A pathway was provided from the driveway to the patio.  A seat wall surrounds the patio, making it the perfect place to sit and enjoy the outdoors with friends and family.

A pathway was established from the driveway to the front entry. Natural stone steps climb the steep grade to the renovated upper parking area.  Low-maintenance plantings were provided throughout the site to complement the woodland setting.

Mooresville, IN

This project was designed for clients looking for a creative concept for their country home.  In order to alleviate drainage issues on-site, a large pond was established in the front yard and surrounded with low-maintenance prairie plantings.  The existing driveway was widened to provide additional space for the boat trailer.  The front porch was expanded to provide room for a small bistro table and a few comfy chairs, perfect for enjoying sunrises.  

The back patio was enlarged and boasts additional amenities including a firepit and seat wall, as well as an outdoor kitchen with an overhead structure. A deck level with the existing above-ground pool offers space for poolside relaxation.  The hot tub was relocated to the master patio area adjacent to the master bedroom expansion.  Plantings were updated throughout to add color and give the home a clean, fresh look.

This project was designed for clients looking for a creative solution for their "under-construction" backyard.  The home sits on a wooded plot of rolling land on the city's northwest side and offers plenty of space for outdoor amenities.

Updated planting beds complement the English Colonial feel of the architecture. A set of stairs leads to a series of terraced upper patio areas, complete with an outdoor kitchen and two overhead structures to provide protection from the elements.

The lower patio area includes a large outdoor pool with a built-in hot tub as well as a sunning deck perfect for lounging on a warm summer day.  The nearby firepit offers an overhead pergola for scale and plenty of room for the clients and their guests.  

The underdeck, intended for relaxation, boasts an outdoor media cabinet for the sports fan in the family.  A door leads to a small storage space perfect for storing pool accessories.

This project was designed for clients looking for a great way to beat the summer heat.  It includes a large backyard pool with modern appeal and an extensive sunning deck with plenty of room for poolside relaxation.  Adjacent to the pool, a cozy master patio area offers a quiet space for conversation and personal reflection.  

The front entry boasts an intimate courtyard space perfect for welcoming guests and casual seating.  New plantings throughout the property enhance its colorful curb appeal.

This project was designed for the up-and-coming Centennial Commons development.  The maintenance-free, single family villa was created with the modern family in mind.  It sports a colorful, four-seasons landscape sure to delight potential homeowners.

In the backyard, a private courtyard offers plenty of room for seating as well as a gas fireplace perfect for keeping you warm on cool summer nights.

This project was designed for clients looking for the ultimate backyard experience.  The existing upper deck was expanded to provide additional space for relaxation and entertainment.  Below the deck, a recessed outdoor kitchen sports a bar and grilling area and offers plenty of protection from the elements.  The adjacent storage room is perfect for storing pool toys and sports equipment.  

A crescent-shaped pergola was placed on the existing seat wall around the firepit to offer shade from the hot sun.  An accent planting bed provides a pop of color and helps break-up the extensive patio space without blocking views to the waterfall area in the southwest corner of the backyard.

This project was designed for clients looking for a rustic country look for their rural home.   In order to meet their needs, a large upper patio was provided for dining and entertainment with an overhead structure for protection from the elements.  The adjacent deck offers connections to grade and interior living areas and is perfect for relaxing on a warm evening.  

From the upper patio, stairs offer access to the lower patio and walk-out basement areas.  Amenities include a firepit with plenty of seating, as well as a built-in media cabinet perfect for the sports fan in the family.  A catwalk stretches between the upper floors of the two garages, and updated plantings provide a pleasant backdrop for new features.

This project was designed for Whispering Pines, an upscale subdivision located on the far eastside of Indianapolis.  The neighborhood was looking for a fresh new look, so we decided to revamp the entrance with new plantings to usher in the Spring season.

This project was designed for clients looking to create a series of spaces that were more effective for their family.  The existing fire feature was brought closer to the house to create a more intimate, functional feature.  An informal dining area was located adjacent to the firepit, with a seat wall to provide plenty of room for the family and their guests.  

A pergola offers filtered shade and room for relaxation, while plantings help define the more private master patio nearby.  New plantings were used to provide a backdrop for these amenities.

This project was designed for clients on Lake Monroe seeking a luxury outdoor experience.  The upper level boasts an extensive deck with a bar and dining area, as well as an entertainment space complete with a large fire table.  The adjacent living area contains an outdoor fireplace protected from the elements by an overhead structure.  

The walk-out basement opens to a large infinity pool and hot tub.  A nearby bar offers a great place for afternoon drinks.  The covered outdoor kitchen offers all the conveniences of the indoors and even includes a brick oven ready to grill-up the perfect pizza.

Near the shoreline, an overhead structure with built-in seating is the perfect place to relax and clean fish after a long day on the lake.  A fireplace and outdoor dining area help complete the space and make it the ultimate outdoor destination.  Naturalized plantings surrounding the home help it blend with the surrounding environment.

This project was designed for clients looking to increase the functionality of their small backyard. The expanded lower deck provides plenty of room for enjoying drinks and conversations with guests on warm evenings, while the nearby media cabinet completes the newly-defined outdoor entertainment area.  

The addition of a spiral staircase offers access to the upper deck without retreating into the house, and new plantings throughout add color to the space.
